Summer Lovin’

Nothing beats the taste of ripe summer berries, freshly picked. Or the sweet aroma of basil radiating in the mid-July heat. Here at Love’s, the tastes of summer are still alive and well as we pack in as much local produce as humanly possible into our dipping cabinet. And while the rest of the year isn’t completely void of fresh produce, May through September really highlight the exceptional variety of goods grown in the Mitten State. From staff-foraged wild black raspberries to elderflower harvested just a short jaunt away, we believe the more wholesome the ingredients, the less they are processed, the more mouth-wateringly delicious the final product. From steeping freshly grown mint into our base to simmering down a stockpot of blueberries into jam, each lick of our handcrafted ice cream should immediately remind you of the goodness inside.

In order to serve you the most delectable treats, we believe vetting our suppliers and meticulous sourcing matters. The “farm-to-table” moniker is so much more than just a fad to us. Of course all produce comes from a farm, but the type of farm is what really matters. Are they caring for the land and ecosystem with their practices or simply trying to maximize yield and minimize expense? When we support great producers in Michigan, we not only boost our local economies, we end up with a final product that tastes better and feels better. We also support other non-local suppliers for things like spices, dried herbs, and nuts, who are working closely with their farmers around the country and world to promote sustainable ecological practices and true organic agriculture. Stop by our shop and check out the ever-changing variety of flavors and sweet treats available utilizing ingredients grown right here in our great state of Michigan and even some from around the world (cardamom from Guatemala, turmeric from India, pistachios from California!). Summer tastes a whole lot sweeter when you support local businesses who care deeply about their craft and their impact.

Stay Sweet,

Love’s Production Crew
